One of the Foundation’s main roles is to preserve RCEME’s proud heritage by making our artifacts, stories, photos, and archives available online to complement our physical Museum in Kingston. This will allow everyone to access this treasure trove of digital information from anywhere at any time. The Foundation has made steady progress implementing the Museum’s digital transformation plan.
One of our early achievements was the creation of a Virtual Tour of the Museum which has become the envy of several other Canadian military museums. The recently released digital Book of Remembrance (BoR) honours RCEME members who gave their lives in the service of Canada. It features a searchable database that allows families and friends to find information about individuals listed in the BoR.
The Museum’s new website will soon be hosting historical documentary type RCEME stories, and we recently hired a qualified individual who has begun the long overdue process of organizing and digitizing our extensive collections and artifacts. We are also about to undertake the digitization of the Corps’ Honours, Decorations and Medals. And this is only the beginning of the Museum’s digital transformation; we need your support to keep the momentum going.
